As for your statement goes, isn't that the same as reducing the specified install clearance, ie. the crown will expand the most and make contact since it is the first part of the piston to get heated and expand. That is why Wiseco recommends 0.003 and it is already on the low end of the tolerance when you do the math. (Now I'm assuming that Z1 reduced the taper by increasing the dia. of the crown) What about expansion factors? I understand that JE has longer skirts and similar taper, and their clatter rep is much lower, hence my assumption in the 1st post. But again, Z1 guys prob. did their homework and I'm just talking out of turn here. My point was that statistically Wiseco pistons have a problem with a high percentage of clatter on a Z application.
